We receive calls from animal shelters to take dogs that are about to be killed. If we have foster homes available, we say YES. Otherwise, we cannot.
Fostering is cool because you get to meet lots of wonderful, varied personalities. Sure, its tough when one of them finds a permanent home and you've fallen for those loving eyes, but it's not bad when you know they went to a terrific home..
But how long will the dog be with me?
Dogs are usually in foster care from 1 month to 3 months, depending on breed and age. Sometimes dogs are in foster care for as little as a week. The average is probably around six weeks.Do I need to be able to afford their Vet Bills?
